Still more aftershocks they are becoming part of every day life in Christchurch.

My birthday celebrations were held at Langdale our local winery what a night we danced the night away with that fantastic band The ‘Vague-As’ brothers and lots of Barrington Estate wine to keep the 150 guests watered (not telling you my age of course still a secret).

My lovely old mother in law Jessie Gilchrist passed away on June 29 in her 91st year.hard working with a great appetite was her secret to longevity.

Alex Farmer one of our top apprentices now fully qualified and has been promoted within the company. Well done Alex!

Grapes now all pruned and ready for spring.

Great meal at JDV restaurant in this week.

Wine of the week: Three Miners 2009 pinot noir.

Have a good week

Regards, Clive.

Once again sorry about lack of news, the earthquake is keeping me very busy.

More success!

We recently attended the 2010 Registered Master Builders National House of the Year gala dinner in Auckland and have added some more awards to our collection:

Best interior finish award in New Zealand

Best outdoor living award in New Zealand

And the real highlight was a platinum award for winning over five national awards. Only five residential building contractors have achieved this since the competition started twenty years ago.

No complaints about the weather over the last few weeks. Christchurch weather has been fantastic our swimming pool now has the cover removed and the bathing suits were out on Saturday.

Now picking tomatoes from my greenhouse.

Grapes are also looking wonderful – we have been frost free this year

Wine of the week is Eradus 2010 Sauvignon Blanc

For ten days Dave (our Contracts Director) recently swapped his Clive Barrington Construction “desk job” and dusted off the cobwebs on his nail pocket and joined a voluntary team who helped complete a school building project on the remote island of Ambae in Vanuatu.

The building project was made a little harder given then was no power or running water on the island!  All materials were transported in by the team.

Thanks to Carters for your support. Clive Barrington Construction was very happy to help out with this needy project by supplying some of the materials, team t-shirts and letting Dave out of the office for a couple of weeks!

Dave says “it was a terrific experience, extremely hot and I am very happy to come back 5kg lighter!!  My first beer on return was magic!!”
