Ensure Your School is Compliant
Schools must comply with the new accounting standard IAS-16. This requires you to record assets of a specified value on an asset register and depreciate those assets to fair value within the school’s accounts.
CES has a wealth of experience having prepared over 300 asset registers for primary intermediate and secondary schools, and other educational institutions throughout New Zealand.
Because we are major suppliers of new and used goods, CES is uniquely placed to accurately assess the value of your schools assets.
In addition, our valuations are accepted by all leading audit and insurance companies.
A Fixed Asset Register will enable your school to:
Ensure you have a current list of assets for insurance purposes;
Determine that financial statements accurately reflect depreciated asset values;
Assure the Board of Trustees that assets are correctly valued and recorded;
Assist decision-making with clearly detailed information;
Analyse relative performance of assets in terms of cost and usage.
All information is listed as follows and is accordance with standard accounting practice.
The completed register is supplied in a ring-bound folder and on disc.
Data is available in these formats:
MS Excel Spreadsheet, listed by location, description and category.
MUSAC Resource Manager by request
MUSAC Asset Manager by request
NEW! Asset Stocktakes
State schools must comply with accounting standard IAS-16 and CES is ready to assist. Where a revaluation is not required, we’re able to reconcile assets by undertaking a stocktake, ensuring that items at the school are accurately reflected on the asset register and audit standards are met.
Asset Register Maintenance
Ask CES about maintaining your fixed assets register. Simply supply us with details on all purchases, and disposal of assets, to keep your register fully up-to-date.
An Inventory Account differs from an Asset Register in that only items above a specified value are counted. Depreciation calculation and residual values are not shown but this document is invaluable for insurance purposes.
Reports can be customised to your schools requirements and additionally, customised labels can be attached to specific items.
The report is supplied in a ring-bound format and on a disc in Excel spreadsheet format.
idMicroDots us the latest technology in the identification of assets and can be supplied as applicator kits or applied by CES, as required.
Micro dots are about the size of a pinhead, each with a unique PIN (personal identification number). The PIN code is registered automatically in a secure online database.
CES can also barcode your school’s assets to ensure a comprehensive, individualised asset count. Each item is identified by a unique code which can be customised to include easily tracked and traced simple software, or a barcode reader (available from CES). Labels are almost impossible to remove.
In addition, a report is supplied in a ring-bound format, and on disc in Excel spreadsheet format. Shown below is a representative snapshot of a presented barcode report.
