Natural stone, as a rule has pores throughout it; the size of these determining the overall porosity of the particular material. Granites generally have smaller pores, therefore making it a denser material than say a limestone or marble. The type and density of any given stone dictates the treatment it will receive. Higher viscosity sealers (generally water-based), are used on highly porous stones, as they will fill the larger pores and bind to the surrounding stone. Alcohol, Polymer or Solvent based sealers are often more suited to denser materials, as their low viscosity allows them to penetrate the material more effectively. The correct application of any given sealeris vital to maximising a stones’ longevity, and maintaining its appearance. By keeping water, dirt and contaminants on the surface of the stone, ongoing maintenance is made easier. By minimising this contaminant absorption, the likelihood of the stone being compromised from within is lessened. We are offering our sealing services at just $23.00 per square metre for almost any stone surface.
