Liquid Fertiliser, Vermicast, Aeration, Kiwifruit Programmes, Avocado Programmes, Grape Programmes

Wormtech Canopy is the market-leading foliar spray which has been in use on kiwifruit and other crops since 2000.

Wormtech Canopy is a leachate of high quality matured vermicast produced at Wormtech's Whakatane vermiculture site.  The vermicast is harvested only after it has been matured for two years, ensuring that microbe levels are stable and consistent.  Careful processing methods and quality equipment ensure a reliable product which contains the maximum bacterial, fungal and nutrient content.  Batches are blended on site prior to packaging, again to ensure consistency.

With the consistency of weak coffee, the product is filtered to 100 microns, so as to avoid problems in spray equipment whilst not removing the larger microbe particles.  It can be sprayed without safety gear and there is no withholding period on fruit.

Wormtech Canopy Microbial/Nutrient Analysis

Wormtech Canopy is a living product and microbe populations will fluctuate according to the conditions.  Further, when applied to the canopy the various species will quickly colonise it to their equilibrium proportions which may be quite different from those in the drum.  The following typical analysis should be viewed with this in mind.

Directions for use:

Wormtech Canopy is formulated primarily for foliar application, either through sprayer or added through overhead irrigation.

Optimum application weather conditions
All applications are best with cool or slow drying conditions, preferably drizzle, overcast or evening.  Avoid application in direct sunlight above 20 oC

Soil applications
Wormtech Canopy may be applied to the soil, but growers should consider Wormtech Ground which has been developed for this purpose.  Apply when soil is moist and there is a minimum of 10mm irrigation or rain after application. In dry weather allow 3 days either side of fertiliser applications. This period can be shortened if rain is imminent.

Compatibility
Wormtech Canopy is a living product. It is not compatible with insecticides or fungicides. For compatibility information regarding herbicides or liquid nutrient products please contact Wormtech NZ Ltd.

Trichoderma treatment
Wormtech Canopy is compatible with most Trichoderma sp and is used to mass spores for soil inoculation or wound treatment.

Incorporation with spray programmes
Allow 3 – 14 days after insecticide or fungicide applications.  (lead time can vary with persistence of fungicide product – contact Wormtech NZ Ltd for further information).

Withholding period
Nil on all crops

Application equipment
Wormtech Canopy can be used with most conventional spray or irrigation equipment and filter mesh sizes.  Flush through equipment as normal prior to using Wormtech Canopy.  Avoid using chlorinated water for mixing.  If chlorinated water only is available, apply mixture as soon as possible to allow chlorine to dissipate into the atmosphere.  Alternatively, pre-fill spray tank with water only and leave to sit with lid off overnight before adding product.

Operating pressure

Maximum equipment pressure of 20 bar (300psi, 2000kpa)

Wormtech Ground was developed in 2006 specifically for application on the soil .
Wormtech Ground is vermicast based like Wormtech Canopy, using the same standards and largely the same production processes.  However Wormtech Ground has a 10% content of humic acid, which makes it an excellent way to improve soil health.  It can be used as an alternative to solid compost, and it also appears to aid breakdown of organic matter such as mulched vine prunings .
Turf - Apply directly over sward.  Allow 3 – 14 days before/after fungicide applications (lead time can vary with persistence of fungicide product – contact Wormtech NZ Ltd for further information).

Directions for use:

WORMTECH GROUND is formulated primarily for direct soil application, either through sprayer, added through irrigation or injected through soil aeration equipment.

Apply when soil is moist, with cool or slow drying conditions, preferably drizzle, overcast or evening and there is a minimum of 10mm irrigation or rain after application.  In dry weather allow 3 days either side of fertiliser applications. This period can be shortened if rain is imminent.

Pasture and Turf - Apply directly over sward.  Allow 3 – 14 days before/after fungicide applications (lead time can vary with persistence of fungicide product – contact Wormtech NZ Ltd for further information).

Fruit and Vegetable crops - Slight dark staining may occur to foliage or some fruit crops. Avoid applying to fruit crops post flowering or vegetables too close to harvest to avoid visible non toxic residue deposits.

Wormtech Extra is an oxygen-enhancing soil conditioner, developed specifically for injection into the soil by Ground Probe Aerator, and for spraying onto sports turf. It combines the unique benefits of our high quality vermicast leachate (81%), humic acid (9%) and Ensol (10%).

As in Wormtech Ground, the humic acid in Wormtech Extra improves soil moisture retention and soil structure.  The extra component, Ensol, works by providing large amounts of loosely bound oxygen molecules in a form that makes them readily available to bacteria.  Anaerobic soil situations are quickly turned aerobic, accelerating the ability of the beneficial bacteria in Wormtech Extra to perform their natural functions of converting locked-up nutrients into plant-available form.  Aerobic soils also minimize weed and disease growth.

For an indicative bacterial, fungal and nutrient breakdown of the vermicast component of Wormtech Extra, see Wormtech Canopy above.”

Wormtech Pasture is formulated to provide a sustainable boost to microbe populations in conventionally farmed pasture soils, whilst at the same time improving soil moisture retention, worm count and porosity. The logic is that not only microbes should be applied, but also the soil conditions should be altered to better support the survival of those microbes and attract worms.  This is reflected in the addition to the liquid vermicast base of food, oxygen and hydroscopic components.  The food component is carbohydrate in the form of molasses.  As with Wormtech Extra, the oxygen comes from EnsolTM, a concentrated and proprietary source of oxygen, and the moisture retention is from humic acid.  Composition is:

Vermicast liquid        82.5%
Humic Acid 10%
EnsolTM 7.5%

The product is a fine suspension, dark brown in colour, which has a limited shelf life and is therefore prepared immediately prior to delivery for application within two weeks.

Directions for use
WORMTECH PASTURE is formulated primarily for spray application, either through boom sprayer, or added through irrigation.

The same matured quality vermicast we use to make our liquid products is available in solid form.  A highly potent growing medium, it should generally be mixed with more than equal parts of soil rather than used in pure form.  It is best spread by hand or with specialized equipment.

Wormtech Solid vermicast is a moist, crumbly odorless material and is available by the tonne, delivered direct from Whakatane.  Contact Greg Walker at Wormtech for details.
