Having sold his share in New Zealand's first Linux specialist company Asterisk Ltd.* to Gen-i, open source champion Igor Portugal has not moved far from the open source field. Igor is now the CEO of Vadacom Limited, a VOIP solutions vendor.

While Vadacom's line of business is in the different field from Asterisk's traditional line of business, Vadacom still supports the open-source community and Vadacom's products are largely built on the open-source technology.

Igor Portugal is one of the founding members of the New Zealand Open Source society. His passion for technology earned him an excellent reputation in New Zealand's IT community. Igor is clearly recognized as one of the leaders in New Zealand's Open Source movement and Linux advocacy by Linux supporters and opponents, and other members of the IT community, neutral to the Linux debate.
