According to the survey of 400 end-users from Enterprise and small and medium size IT organizations, security and privacy of data in the cloud top the list of concerns for both private and public sectors, followed by confidence in vendors, Internet access, cost of migration and contractual lock-in. Despite this, an astounding 98 per cent of those already using cloud-based services are satisfied with existing hosted services and cloud deployments, and more than 94 per cent plan to expand their investments in 2012.

“With the rapid growth in the US cloud market, it’s proven ground that once the initial adoption of a cloud service is achieved, the trend is to further extend hosted services to other core areas of the business,” said Burton. “In order to reduce barriers around that initial experience and commence rich partner relationships, MSPs must address their customer’s concerns head-on. By choosing a reputable, certified and reliable cloud platform, MSPs and cloud service providers can provide their customers with the assurance they need to cost-effectively expand to the cloud and gain business advantage.”

The research conducted by CIF in January of 2012 shows that while organization size will no longer be a determinant of rate of adoption, the mid market will seek a disproportionate level of assistance with on-boarding data and other professional services. Implementation and managed services will be a key point of differentiation among successful suppliers.
