An Ultrasound scan involves the use of high frequency sound waves to produce real-time images. The images are captured by the Sonographer or Radiologist using a probe on the surface of the skin. This provides information about the structure of various organs, muscles, tendons and ligaments.
Moving images of muscles and tendons can also be obtained on ultrasound. This is often vital information required within the musculoskeletal setting for the correct diagnosis to be made.
