Our hospitals and grounds are SMOKEFREE

CMDHB aims to protect the health of those living in our community while promoting and supporting healthy living.  For this reason, we are enforcing our Smokefree Policy that all our sites and grounds are smokefree.


  • Ask your family doctor or nurse for help to quit smoking before you are admitted to hospital.
  • Hospital staff can supply you with nicotine replacement products to help you remain comfortably smokefree during your stay.


  • Please leave your cigarettes at home or in the car during your hospital visit.
  • Concierge staff at Middlemore Hospital can give you nicotine lozenges to help with cravings.

Infant Communication DVD

It is also available free of charge for any organisations who hold a contract with the Counties Manukau District Health Board for delivering services to families with young children. The DVD is aimed at helping parents, whaanau and professionals understand and respond to the social and emotional needs of babies, in the first three months of life.


Childhood Immunisation

We can protect all our children against these diseases by taking the opportunity to discuss the importance of immunisations at every visit. All immunisations are free to protect your baby against serious Diseases that may cause long term health problems and disabilities. Childhood immunisations are FREE from your GP or Nurse and are due at 6 weeks, 3 months, 5 months, 15 months and 4 years of age.
