BOOK REVIEWS:

"Today a successful businessman, scientist, entrepreneur, inventor and humanitarian, Kiwibank New Zealander of the year 2010, Ray Avery shares, for the first time, his own heartbreaking childhood and inspirational story of one man's determination to change the world in this candid and often laugh-out-loud funny memoir, 'Rebel with a Cause'."

There's been a plethora of autobiographies this year – many of them very good – but the best of the bunch has to be Ray Avery:

Rebel with a Cause.

Living proof that fact is stranger than fiction, this unloved, abused child, a ward of the state in England evolved into a brilliant and philanthropic New Zealand scientist.

He was a New Zealander of the Year last year and deservedly so – a great book for any member of the family and one of my top five for 2010.
