What is Respite?

Respite is an out of home, residential service that allows clients and their families a change or break from their daily routine and stresses. Respite is an essential part of the overall support for clients and their caregivers.

Respite may be funded by the Ministry of Health, ACC or privately and may be as short as an overnight stay or for several weeks, allowing clients and families flexibility in how they use respite services.

At Laura Fergusson Rehabilitation, our facilities and friendly team of trained professionals offer respite for a variety of people with different needs.

All our staff are trained and skilled for the provision of respite services.
We have 24 hour nursing cover, as well as a team of health professionals available to provide Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Therapy, exercise programmes, hydrotherapy, social work and psychological and medical support if required.
