Panelock Bodies

This sytem of construction was introduced to NZ by Custom Motorbodies in 1994. Made from high tensile 6261 aluminum extrusions consisting of a coaming(s) - corner section(s) and vertical planks this system is the strongest and toughest system available.

The curtainsider body is the mainstay of most trucking companies in this country. The quick and easy side loading of pallets make it the most efficient system available. With a Tail Lift  installation additional flexibility is added with the ability to load and unload the truck without having a forkhoist.

The Slide a Side tends to be a specialist application typically for beverage delivery vehicles where a large number of curtain operations are performed per day.

Contractors trucks are normally a Flatdeck or small Tipper with a large locker of toolbox for carrying gear. Flashing lights - work lights and all manner of auxiliary equipment maybe fitted as per customer requirements.

Tractor Units

Sometimes referred to as turn table and guards. These are normally heavy trucks for towing Semi-trailers.

Commonly referred to as Flatdeck Trays - these can be as small as a UTE deck or as large as a heavy truck for carrying steel sections. Decking can be plywood - shiplap hardwood or steel depending on the application.

Transporters as the name suggests can be used for car recovery or specialized vehicles for carrying heavy machinery. They can be fitted with winches - either electric or hydraulic - can have manually operated  or hydraulically operated ramps.

16 of these vehicles were built for the New Zealand Fire Service to provide New Zealand with a world class capability to manage large incidents. They have been deployed at Pike River mine disaster and Christchurch Earthquake as a contemporary command centre. They are also a duel purpose vehicle with hazardous materials response options. Equipment installed on these vehicles includes - 2 electric generators - 230AC and 24DC power - light mast - 10.5m camera mast with 360degree closed circuit TV - 1500Kg Tail Lift - satellite communications  - work stations with large touch screen monitors - incident  control boards. These vehicles clearly demonstrate the special  design and built capabilities of Custom Motorbodies.
