Student welfare is an important feature of AIS St Helens. On campus we have full-time student services officers, fluent in a variety of languages, who provide students with ongoing support during their programmes of study.
The Careers and Alumni Office assists students with gaining employment after graduation and during studies by advising on resume preparation, interview techniques and suitable placement for work experience. As part of the job-seeking process, the office will assist students and graduates to contact potential employers and can assist in interview arrangements
Every semester a number of partial tuition fees scholarships are available to the top international and domestic students in Bachelor degree programmes. They are awarded on the basis of academic results achieved in the previous two semesters of academic study in the qualification at AIS St Helens.
A shuttle bus for students runs between the Main Campus and the city, close to the major bus, rail and harbour ferry terminals. Both AIS St Helens campuses are close to public transport (bus and rail) routes.
A variety of sporting, sightseeing and recreation activities are available for students through Auckland Adventures Ltd. These include kayaking, skiing, horse riding, Marae visits and walks, all adding an extra dimension to student life.
AIS St Helens Asquith Campus has a fully-equipped gymnasium and sports arena. The gym has exercycles, free weights, treadmills, rowing machines and a fat-burner circuit. Within the sports arena students can enjoy basketball, volleyball, cricket, badminton, table tennis and indoor football, and club nights are organised for aerobics, ballroom dancing, boxing and other sports.
The Main Campus has tennis courts plus areas for basketball, volleyball and petanque outside and is adjacent to the popular Chamberlain Park Golf Course.
AIS St Helens is a partner with Immigration New Zealand in offering Students Online services on campus. New and continuing international students can apply for student visas and permits on campus, with a 48 hour turnaround. Graduates can also apply for 12 months graduate job search permits on campus.
New Zealand immigration policy supports the settlement of international students who have the skills and talent New Zealand needs. All AIS St Helens qualifications at level 5 and above qualify for points under the Skilled Migrant Category. The Careers and Alumni Office assists students to find work after graduation and can recommend consultants who assist with work permits and permanent residency.
The Alumni Association assists all graduates to keep in touch and enables AIS St Helens to track employment and future study outcomes.
For those who wish to make AIS St Helens their Auckland home, our dormitory provides 125 beds in single and multishare rooms. The rooms are fully furnished, each with its own study area. Meals can be prepared in the kitchen and eaten in the dining room area. Students are encouraged to stay in the dormitory while they settle in to life in Auckland.
For students wishing to live in a family environment, homestay accommodation is offered. All families are carefully selected by our homestay coordinator and provide an excellent environment for students wanting to practice their English.
